NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Compassion International today announced that nearly 4,000 children have been sponsored in just six weeks through the recent efforts of their Grammy Award-winning partner artist, Michael W. Smith. These sponsorships were generated by two successful concert tours headlined or co-headlined by Smith, playing to capacity crowds in major markets across the country.

"I'm so grateful to be involved with an organization like Compassion," states Smith. "People tend to thank me for the work that I've done with Compassion, but I feel like I need to thank Compassion for letting me be involved in something that's so authentic and life-changing." He adds that "my relationship with Compassion has really made me reevaluate what's important in my life and the life of my family."

"We are so blessed to have such a gifted and God-centered individual faithfully sharing Compassion's mission on behalf of the world's most vulnerable children," declares Compassion President and CEO Wess Stafford. "Michael has been a champion of this ministry for the last decade and has rallied thousands of individuals to Compassion's cause-releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. True to his lyrics, he is helping God's children find 'their place in this world.'"
